In the Land of Invisible Women

In the Land of Invisible Women: A Female Doctor's Journey in the Saudi Kingdom - Qanta A. Ahmed This book has definitely open a whole new world to me. Whilst I know vaguely of how oppressed women are in countries such as Saudi Arabia, I've never really explored it any deeper. Whilst the author herself is a Muslim, she has lived a Westernised life which granted her freedom of choice & speech. In this book, we explore what it is like, from a Westernised viewpoint, of life in the Saudi Kingdom, especially for a woman. Being a woman in a western world myself, I was fascinated and infuriated with certain events & views.I think this book is written as a memoir in dedication to the author's Saudi Arabian friends who are working for a better future of Saudi Arabia especially for the welfare of women & children. Good on them! I'm more than glad that the book ends with a note of hope and not bitterness on the part of the author.
