The other day I mentioned to someone that I haven’t been interested in “angel” books at all. Then, this book tour suddenly kinda fell into my lap and I thought, yea, why not!? I always say that I pretty much read everything so here’s an opportunity! Plus, it kinda reminded me that old angel tv series, Highway to Heaven, which I actually quite like (I may be showing my age a bit here).At first the title really didn’t impress me- I didn’t particularly like ‘amateur’, somehow it just didn’t paint the right picture for me. However, now, it just totally made sense. Plus, after reading the book, the ‘professional’ angels are just so BORING! I definitely will not be looking to work as Professional Angel. It might be blasphemy but I’d rather be a Dark but Fun-loving Vampire than a Hands-Off Professional Angel.Take an Amateur Angel who falls into the job by accident with no training whatsoever and place her in a role where she is looking after her idol in life – well, we’ve just got ourselves an entertaining tale. Ashley was only 18 with a somewhat bright future. She’s not ‘special’ in any way nor is she ‘bad’ in any way, she’s just an average girl but to die at 18, on the threshold of womanhood, that just takes the icing of the cake! On another level though, she gets to be with Cannon Michaels all the time. Although, maybe that’s not as good as she thought it’d be.It’s such a sweet but humorous tale of finding self & one of love; of not judging what you see; of looking deeper than the surface. It is a heart-warming funny story with a touch of the voyeuristic (in a good funny way) – every girl’s dream to being that close to their idol (you’d have to stay within 10 feet!).Oh. My. Goodness. The ending. Ah. Oh. Uh. I really don’t know what to say. Just… Watch Out!
