The Chocolate Lovers' Club

The Chocolate Lovers' Club - Carole Matthews, Clare Corbett To tell the truth, I almost gave up at halfway but I persisted because I believe in the plot. After reaching halfway, I think I'm entitled to believe that the storyline is good and that I will not regret continuing to end.I almost gave up because I almost couldn't stand it when the character of Lucy Lombard, main protagonist, was illuminated as an irresponsible non-thinking idiot (I cannot be anymore scathing without having to repeat myself many times). However, I don't know if she was just having a real bad week / month since nothing really majorly idiotic-ly catastrophically happened to her again. I have to add, though, that she is otherwise a warm, loving, staunchly loyal friend. The book revolves around the four friends who met at Chocolate Heaven: Lucy, Nadia, Autumn, and Chantal. It explores a myriad of issues; on and off relationship to final ending of it, gambling problems to near breakdown of a marraige, a dodgy brother to completly trashed apartment, and from a sexless marriage to torrid affairs. The book, whilst touching my heart, was hilarious. The nerves of of these women.... the adventure... the support they gave each other...The ultimate end to chick lit reading experience is the *sigh* of contentment at the end, "bliss...", and I definitely did *sigh* in contentment.
