A truly engaging read except for the beginning where I felt like it's taken so very long to set up and there were just too many characters to keep track of.However, once background has been set and we moved onward by approx 90 year, it was much improved. The world as we know it no longer exists: a research gone wrong has infected most humankind to something otherworldy and not many has survived. Hope is something elusive & illusionary, it is a thin sliver of light which they espied but not many willing to try to grasp of. But is there 'hope'? Could they really 'hope' for a peaceful future? The only really horrible thing is that it is not a stand alone book for its size! After all that reading (no matter how enjoyable) but only to be teased on to the next is just absolutely frustrating... *bah!*
